Local Chapters

Making a Difference for Pigeons in Your Community

Our local chapters bring our work for urban pigeons to where it matters most: individual cities and regions. They connect committed people, raise public awareness, engage with local authorities and organisations, and organise their own projects and events.

As part of Stadttauben Schweiz, our local chapters benefit from our infrastructure, reach, information materials and expert support. At the same time, they operate largely independently and can set their own priorities according to local needs.

The Local Coordinator as a Key Link

A reliable local coordinator is particularly important for coordinating the chapter and managing its external communication. This person also serves as the link to Stadttauben Schweiz, regularly participates in joint meetings, and ensures that knowledge and current developments are shared within the chapter.

Each chapter should also be regularly active in its local area – for example by organising an informal meet-up, an information stand or another event where new people interested in getting involved can join.

Start Your Own Local Chapter

We welcome people who want to give urban pigeons a stronger voice in their region. However, starting a local chapter involves more than occasionally getting involved with pigeons: anyone acting in the name of Stadttauben Schweiz also represents the organisation publicly.

In Switzerland in particular, the subject is complex. The legal status of urban pigeons, cantonal and municipal regulations, feeding bans, and the handling of injured birds and clutches all require a solid foundation of knowledge. As a volunteer-run national umbrella organisation, we are not able to provide this knowledge from the ground up. We therefore expect anyone starting a chapter to be willing to independently develop an in-depth understanding of urban pigeons and the relevant legal framework and to keep their knowledge up to date.

Interested in Starting Your Own Local Chapter?

We’d first like to learn a little more about you, your previous experience and your ideas through a few short questions. This will help us determine together whether a Stadttauben Schweiz local chapter is the right framework for your involvement. We’ll then get to know each other in an informal, no-obligation conversation and discuss the next steps.
